द्रौपदी मुर्मू भारतीय जनता पार्टी की नेता हैं। उनका जन्म 20 जून, 1958 को ओडिशा के मयूरभंज जिले में हुआ था। वे आदिवासी समाज से सम्बंधित हैं। उन्हें 1997 में रायरंगपुर नगरपंचायत का कौंसिलर चुना गया था। उन्होंने भारतीय जनता पार्टी के अनुसूचित जनजाति मोर्चा के उपाध्यक्ष के रूप में भी काम किया है।

ओडिशा में भारतीय जनता पार्टी और बीजू जनता दल गठबंधन सरकार के दौरान, वह 6 मार्च, 2000 से 6 अगस्त, 2002 तक वाणिज्य और परिवहन (स्वतंत्र प्रभार) और 6 अगस्त, 2002 से 16 मई, 2004 तक मत्स्य पालन और पशु संसाधन विकास राज्य मंत्री थीं। उन्हें 2007 में ओडिशा विधानसभा द्वारा सर्वश्रेष्ठ विधायक के लिए नीलकंठ पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया था।

वह झारखंड की पहली महिला राज्यपाल थीं। वह भारतीय राज्य में राज्यपाल के रूप में नियुक्त होने वाली ओडिशा की पहली महिला आदिवासी नेता थीं। वे 2015 से 2019 तक झारखण्ड की राज्यपाल रहीं। वह भारत के 15वें राष्ट्रपति के कार्यालय के चुनाव के लिए भाजपा के नेतृत्व वाले राष्ट्रीय जनतांत्रिक गठबंधन की उम्मीदवार हैं।

Draupadi Murmu (President of India)

Draupadi Murmu is the leader of the Bhartiya Janata Party.  She was born on June 20, 1958, in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha.  She belongs to tribal society.  She was elected as the councilor of Srirampur Nagar panchayat in 1997.  She has also served as the Vice President of the Scheduled Tribes Morcha of the Bhartiya Janata Party.

During the Bhartiya Janata Party and Biju Janata Dal coalition government in Odisha, she served as Commerce and Transport (Independent Charge) from 6 March 2000 to 6 August 2002 and Fisheries and Animal Resource Development State from 6 August 2002 to 16 May 2004.  Was a minister.  She was awarded the Neelkanth Award for Best MLA by the Odisha Legislative Assembly in 2007.

She was the first woman governor of Jharkhand.  She was the first woman tribal leader from Odisha to be appointed as the governor of an Indian state.  She was the Governor of Jharkhand from 2015 to 2019.  She is a BJP-led National Democratic Alliance candidate for election to the office of the 15th President of India.
